Transforming Education
Teachers have always been an inspiration for young students. Right after the parents, students think of them as the closest elders. They help young dreamers in their hour of need and guide them through their lives. They give children purpose, set them up for success as citizens of our world, and inspire in them a drive to do well and succeed in life. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and teachers are that critical point that makes a child ready for their future.
To celebrate all teachers around the globe, World Teachers’ Day is held annually on October 5. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions. It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education and also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation. Students give their teacher a card or gift, write a poem, or create a piece of artwork. Teachers feel happy when they know that their students are learning something and that their work is not in vain. The key is to get as creative as possible and give a sweet surprise to teachers.
Getting involved with World Teachers’ Day is fun and amazing. Take some time to thank the educators who have worked so hard throughout the challenges of these last few years. Honor the teachers who invested in children and, in some cases, changed the course of their lives.
