Shut Down
A devastating outbreak of infectious disease happened through globalization that no one expected or predicted. The world stopped; countless livelihoods, educational opportunities, and other factors were affected—it was worse. Not a single soul knew what to do. Everyone was engulfed in the shadows. It all began with a cluster of pneumonia cases with an unknown etiology that were recorded in Wuhan, China, spread over the entire world, and was eventually found to be brought on by a coronavirus (Covid-19 virus), which drastically altered everyone's lives, including mine as a student.
Hello, my name's Rodessa. I am a simple person, a daughter, a student, and a friend. Like everyone else, COVID-19 has brought a change into my life that I least expected, particularly as a student. COVID-19 turned our "normal" life upside down. My school was shut down in March 2022; distance learning was formed, online classes were implemented, and a new norm was put in place. I didn't have a very positive experience with distance learning. I have a difficult time focusing and am often distracted when it comes to academics. Since COVID-19 began, my stress levels have increased and my interest in learning has decreased. Due to the fact that I spent most of my time on social media and only study in the evening, I was sleep deprived. I was stressed out, frightened, scared, and apprehensive. I couldn't even focus on my lessons since it felt like the world's crumbling down before my eyes.
Fortunately, after I spent a lot of time working out my new routine and with the help of my family, I was able to get through it. After several years, the pandemic is somewhat under control; the spread of the virus has slowed down. We are now accustomed to the new normal, and as a result of our experiences, we no longer view things the same way we did before. This experience has taught me that sometimes, as humans, we take things for granted and don't appreciate what we have until it is taken away from us. Because we never know when it will be our last, we should make the most of every moment.
